Meet your driving guide at Keflavik Airport and head to the famous Blue Lagoon, just a fifteen-minute drive away. It's the perfect spot to relax in the milky blue waters and soak in the stunning volcanic scenery. After your refreshing dip, continue to your Reykjavik hotel for the night.
Explore Reykjavík with a quick city tour lasting about 3 hours. Marvel at the unique Hallgrímskirkja Church, known for its distinctive curved spire. Take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque waterfront to catch a glimpse of Hofdi House, once the site of the historic 1986 Reykjavík Summit. Capture photos of the iconic Perlan and the Harpa Concert Hall from the outside. Then, drive 2.5 to 3 hours to your hotel on Snæfellsnes Peninsula for some well-deserved relaxation.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often called "miniature Iceland," boasts waterfalls, rock formations, picturesque beaches, and historic villages filled with stories.
Spend the day discovering the peninsula's highlights. Visit the original Danish-style black wooden church Búðakirkja. Take a stroll along Arnarstapi village's stunning coastal path to admire the unique eroded circular stone arch. Learn about elven folklore at the Lóndrangar basalt cliffs. Capture a photo of Kirkjufell, Iceland's most photographed mountain, featuring its distinct conical peaks and double waterfalls against the backdrop of the sea.
Today involves a long drive from Snæfellsnes Peninsula to Reykjahlidh, crossing the northern part of the country, offering stunning views of the coastline, North Atlantic Ocean, fjords, and mountains along the way (6-7 hours).
During the journey, make a short detour to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss in Borgarfjörður. Admire the beauty of Hraunfossar waterfalls, cascading into the river from ledges of less porous lava rock, and experience the power of Barnafoss waterfall as it rushes down a narrow, rocky valley. You'll also visit Akureyri and pause to see the impressive horseshoe-shaped Godafoss waterfall, which drops from a height of 12 meters across a width of 30 meters.
After breakfast, take some time to explore the attractions around Lake Mývatn. Engage in birdwatching at the Skútustaðagígar pseudo-craters, discover the effects of Icelandic volcanism in the Dimmuborgir lava field, and experience the impressive geothermal activity at Námaskarð Pass.
Later, head to Húsavík for a Whale-Watching tour. Board a traditional Icelandic boat and venture into the ocean to observe marine life inhabiting the waters near the Arctic Circle, including magnificent creatures like the minke whale and the humpback whale.
Prepare for another full day of driving as you journey to Hnappavellir on the southeast coast, which will take approximately 7 hours. Along the route, enjoy the scenic views of the beautiful east fjords from the window, and make a stop at the peaceful village of Djúpivogur, situated by the charming fjord of Hamarsfjörður. Upon reaching your destination, check into the hotel and take some time to rest.
A trip to Iceland wouldn't be fully enjoyed without experiencing Jökulsárlón. Join a tour on an amphibious vessel and glide across the lagoon, offering an incredible opportunity to see towering icebergs up close in the aquamarine water.
After the tour, take a stroll on Diamond Beach. Later, travel to your Vík hotel, approximately 3 hours away. The final stop for today is Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, located just behind the village. Despite its dangers, it's renowned as one of the world's most stunning beaches, with massive basalt stacks and powerful Atlantic waves.
