13-Day WWII Journey Through Germany, Czech and Poland

Let's kick off our journey by visiting Courtroom 600, the historic venue where the renowned Nuremberg trials took place following World War II. Keep an eye out for the tunnel that connects directly to the prison, offering intriguing insights into the trials. Afterward, we'll make our way to the Documentation Center, home to the permanent exhibition "Fascination and Terror".

Following breakfast, drive to Berlin. Approximately 5 hours later, arrive at your destination, check into your hotel, and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Today's journey takes us through Berlin, a city with a history marked by the shadow of Nazi dictatorship. 

Our route begins with traversing Wilhelmstrasse and Vossstrasse, once hubs of power. Next is the Reichskanzlei, the former office of the German Chancellor during the period of the German Reich from 1878 to 1945. Following that, we'll pay our respects at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, also known as the Holocaust Memorial. Finally, we'll explore the Topography of Terror, a museum shedding light on the horrific crimes committed during the Nazi era.

Your journey through Berlin continues with a visit to the House of the Wannsee Conference, a Holocaust memorial that once served as a conference center and guest house for the SS. Discover its solemn history tied to the Holocaust. Next, explore Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam, renowned for hosting the pivotal Potsdam Conference in 1945, shaping the post-World War II Europe and Asia.

Later, travel to the former Theresienstadt concentration camp in Terezín. Unlike other camps, it was both a concentration camp and ghetto, noted for its unique cultural scene and educational initiatives for children. Finally, conclude your day with a trip to Prague for a restful night.

Nestled among picturesque mountains, Prague stands as the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. Its skyline is adorned with thousands of medieval buildings, each whispering tales of bygone eras. 

Today's journey leads us to sites linked to Reinhard Heydrich, one of the key architects of the Holocaust. A stroll through the Old Town Cemetery offers a glimpse into centuries gone by, followed by a leisurely walk along Maisel Street to the captivating Old Town Square. Here, marvel at the architectural wonders spanning various eras. 

Seventy years after the conclusion of World War II, the tale of a mysterious train laden with gold still echoes across Europe, said to have vanished near the Polish city of Walbrzych.

Though the legend remains unconfirmed, Walbrzych gained renown as the site of the Nazi's secretive project Riese - a vast network of underground tunnels and shelters. 

Following our exploration, we journey onward to Wroclaw for a night of rest and reflection.

We'll delve into another somber chapter of history with a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau today. This complex, consisting of over 40 concentration and extermination camps, stands as a haunting reminder of the atrocities committed during World War II. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, Auschwitz-Birkenau serves as a poignant memorial to the countless lives lost. Then, we continue onwards to Krakow.

Our journey today brings us to the Emalia Enamel Factory in Krakow, a site steeped in history from the pages of "Schindler's List." Here, we'll uncover the remarkable tales of Oskar Schindler, the factory owner who saved 1,200 Jews during World War II. After our visit, we'll venture to the Krakow Ghetto and Heroes Square. Here, amidst the echoes of history, we'll unravel the stories of bravery and resilience that define this city's spirit.

Following breakfast, we'll set our sights on Warsaw, the vibrant capital and largest city of Poland. Upon reaching our destination, we'll embark on a panoramic city tour, immersing ourselves in the rich tapestry of Warsaw's history and culture.
