8-Day China Highlights Tour

Head out this morning for a 2-hour drive to Mutianyu. It's less packed than Badaling, and the walk itself feels manageable. Watchtowers appear frequently along the ridge, and the vegetation around them is thick enough to soften the stone. Most visitors find the pace comfortable.
On the way back in the late afternoon, you'll pass the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube. The car will also stop briefly at a pearl store if you'd like to have a look.

After the tour, return to the city and visit the Muslim Street. The street is lined with food stalls, and the architecture has a distinct character. You can walk through at your own pace and try whatever looks good.

Start the day at the Bund, where old bank buildings line the riverfront. It's a short stop, but the view is the main draw.

A short drive takes you to Fuxing Park, a French-style garden where locals gather to dance, play cards, and sit around. Then walk through Bugaoli, a neighborhood of stone-gate houses, with a guide who can point out details you'd otherwise miss. You'll have time to try a few street snacks along the way.
The day ends at the Shanghai Museum, and you can choose which galleries to visit.
